We began research in 2014 while Susan Watchie completed her studies at the University of Washington. After over 40 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry, Watchie realized there were no products to adequately address the increasing violence on school campuses across the country.

With attacks on the rise, Watchie utilized insurance and risk management practices to research active shootings and possible insurance solutions and analyzed the legal ramifications for organizations after a violent loss — including an employer’s Duty of Care.

We concluded that most universities, religious organizations, and businesses lacked sufficient protocol for addressing deadly weapon attacks—leaving organizations vulnerable to exposure, significant loss, and endless litigation.

We formed Watchie Insurance Group in 2017 and created a brokerage that specializes in unique products.  One vertical is insurance coverages that address the mitigation of deadly weapon occurrences, or threat thereof,  to reduce losses and ultimately save lives.

Watchie Insurance Group provides all types of business and personal insurance for our clients.  We strive for affordable, tailored, and flexible terms. WIG offers claim advocacy for clients and their counsel "before” it goes to court. Consultant fees are either on a contingency or on a flat fee basis.
